Sub-Subject Description: India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Bilateral Agreement

Status of the agreement on foreign trade and foreign direct investment (FDI) between India and the European Free Trade Association: under consultation and study.

Recognising the need for improving foreign trade between India and the European Free Trade Association (Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein), a Joint Study Group was formed and mandated to take an exhaustive view of bilateral economic ties between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

India-European Free Trade Association Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will cover:

  1. International Trade in products and services
  2. Foreign direct investment.

Bilateral trade India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) was 7,475 million dollars, exports of India: 623 million dollars and the European Free Trade Association exports: 6,853 million dollars.

Switzerland is largest trade partner of India among Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein.
