Description of the Subject (Higher Education, e-learning): India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA) Bilateral Agreement.

Status of the agreement on foreign trade and foreign direct investment (FDI) between India and the European Free Trade Association: under consultation and study.

Recognising the need for improving the foreign trade between India and the European Free Trade Association (Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein), a Joint Study Group was formed and mandated to take an exhaustive view of the bilateral economic ties between India and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

The India-European Free Trade Association Free Trade Agreement (FTA) will cover:

  1. International trade in goods and services
  2. Foreign direct investment (FDI)

Foreign Trade EFTA-India

  1. Bilateral trade India-European Free Trade Association (EFTA): 7,475 million dollars
  2. Eexports from India to EFTA: 623 million dollars
  3. Exports from the European Free Trade Association markets to India: 6,853 million dollars
  4. Switzerland is the largest trading partner of India
