Description of the Online Course: European Free Trade Association (EFTA)-Gulf Cooperation Council Free Trade Agreement (FTA).

Entry into force of the EFTA-Gulf Cooperation Council Free Trade Agreement: July 2014 (Signed on June 2009).

The main objective of the European Free Trade Association-Gulf Cooperation Council Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is to set-up a free trade area through the bilateral trade liberalisation.

The EFTA-Gulf Cooperation Council Free Trade Agreement covers:

  1. Trade in Services
  2. Trade in Goods (tariff concessions on processed agricultural products)
  3. Competition
  4. Intellectual Property Rights
  5. Investment
  6. Government Procurement
  7. Dispute Settlement
  8. Administration
  9. ...

Bilateral agricultural agreements between the EFTA States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland) and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE).

Rules of origin: based on the European Union model (EUR.1 movement certificate).

The European Free Trade Association belongs to the European Economic Area and the Gulf Cooperation Council to the Arab Economic Area (Islamic Civilisation).
