Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries: The Member States of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) are Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and East Timor. Observer member countries: Andorra, Argentina, Chile, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Namibia, Mauritius, Senegal, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, UK, Uruguay. Main areas of intervention of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP):
Spoken by 230 million people, Portuguese is the language of Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, São Tomé, Guinea-Bissau and East Timor. There is a movement to make Portuguese one of the official languages of the UN. Portuguese is spoken by 190 million people in South America, 16 million of Africans, 12 million of Europeans, 2 million in North America and 330,000 in Asia.
